Over a hundred people stood up and over three thousand people took action in Korea, on 18th September. Stand Up Take Action campaign Korea was full of enthusiasm and events. This campaign was conducted in Seoul, the capital city, Daejeon, the centre of transportation of Korea under the corps for Make MDGs Right which consists of the ODA Watch Korea, the Korea National Commission for UNESCO, the Amnesty international Korea branch, and Global Civic Sharing (GCS, Korean Development NGO). About 30 university students from several association and 80 high-school students from UNESCO collaboration school racked our brain and carefully organized this campaign. I participated in organizing the one held in Seoul.

Our motive was inform about MDGs to citizens in amusing and easy way.Also we tried to make noise to follow global concept. We made a huge world map and filled it with wishful messages related to 8 goals. Anyone can pick up a message he/she likes and tied it on the area where the goal is most related. Many people showed their interest and participated in filling out the map with messages. We didn't forget to explain MDGs and gathered signatures. Signatures will be sent to Korean government and related authorities.

Once every hour we held a concert performed by High school students. They practiced so hard to perform on that day and many people were touched. After calling attention with the concert one of our campaigners had a speech to encorage people to join us and take action for make MDGs right. Just after the speech all people who gathered around the stage did stand up performance shouting out"Bin-gon-toi-chi Tok-ba-ro-hae! Which means make MDGs right!"

Before and after the speech, we had a rally. Our campaigners and citizens marched with a song wishing a world without poverty. Everybody who joined the rally unfolded umbrellas together. We also held small events such as "free hug" and survey with stickers throughout the day.

When I asked citizens if they have heard of MDGs, almost all of them said "No". From now on, they will say "Yes" and many of them will take action or watch things are getting right regarding MDGs. That is someting. That attention wil make a change. I believe we started a change. Let's watch it together!
