The Stand Up and Be Counted will happen during regularly scheduled Sunday service of the Unitarian (and Universalist) church in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, Canada.

I will teach a lesson on poverty-what it is, why it happens, and show a video. I will then show the Stand Up video and give the students the option to stand up against poverty.

The middle year students at Westmount Elementary School in Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan, Canada will get together at 11:00am to raise anti-poverty awareness and to stand together for 60 seconds.

At its annual banquet, Daughters of Africa (African Women’s Association in Regina) will hold a “stand up” event to mark the international day for eradication of poverty. St. Martin’s Church 4720 Castle Rd, tickets $35 adults, $20 youth, $15 children

Forum with video and guest speakers on recruitment of child soldiers in northern Uganda, combined with speakers from anti-gang recruitment programs in Regina. This program makes the link between poverty and the victimization of youth both locally and globally. Knox Metropolitan United Church, free admission
